If it's absolute class you want from a supercar, then the Aston Martin DB9 takes some beating. The British-built V12 engined car can be considered more of a quick GT car than a pin-sharp racer, but there's no doubt its relaxed approach hold plenty of appeal. The DB11 succeeds the DB9 as Aston Martin’s flagship V12 GT, taking on cars like the Mercedes-AMG S65 Coupe, Bentley GTC and Ferrari F12. Aston’s DB lineage, named after one-time owner David Brown, stretches right back to 1950 and includes the iconic DB5 of Goldfinger fame. But the DB11 is the first all-new one since 2003. And if you’re wondering what happened to DB10, that was reserved for a special re-bodied V8 Vantage used in 2015’s Bond film, Spectre.

At launch the McLaren 570S represented a toe dipped into new waters, it’s the forerunner of McLaren’s everyday Sports Series line up - from a manufacturer historically linked with high-performance supercars. This is a seriously fast machine, it is powered by the 3.8-litre V8 used in all McLarens. It has two turbochargers, which help deliver a surge of acceleration in the middle of the rev range.

The amazing new McLaren 720S has an all-new body design with gullwing doors and lots of concealed vents and ducts for a smooth appearance. The bi-turbo V8 engine is bigger at 4.0-litres, developing a monster 710bhp and the suspension. In short, it’s not just a new look, it’s a faster, more capable car. And it features a drift-mode, too. Could this car get any cooler?

Probably the most iconic sports car ever made, the Porsche 911 has set class standards for handling and performance for years.  The rear-engined layout that made early 911s so tricky to handle has been retained, but it’s been refined over the generations so the car now has the stability to match its jaw-dropping performance.
