Lotus Electre: The World’s First Electric Hyper-SUV

This marks a departure from their traditional focus on sports cars and introduces their first foray into the SUV segment.

The Lotus Electre combines the iconic DNA of Lotus sports cars with the practicality and versatility of an SUV. It boasts impressive charging capabilities, with a 350kW charge time of just 20 minutes for a range of 238 miles. On a full charge, the range increases to an impressive 373 miles.

Performance-wise, the Electre delivers with a powerful 600bhp engine that accelerates from 0 to 62mph in under 3 seconds. This is made possible by the SUV’s enhanced aerodynamics, featuring the most advanced active aerodynamics package on any production SUV.

Lotus has also prioritized weight reduction in the Electre, utilizing carbon fiber and aluminum for the exterior and lightweight wool and textile for the interior. This approach contributes to the car’s agility and performance.

The Lotus Electre is a significant milestone for the company, representing several firsts. It is their first 5-door and non-sports car production car, as well as their most connected vehicle to date. Despite these advancements, the Electre maintains the beautiful design and pioneering engineering that are characteristic of Lotus vehicles.

The impressive 100kWh+ engine in the Electre delivers over 600nhp and enables a top speed of 160mph. The car’s design, with its aerodynamic lines and 23-inch wheels, further reinforces its classification as a Hyper-SUV.

With Lotus’ Managing Director, Matt Windle, describing it as a “momentous point in our history,” it’s evident that the Electre represents a significant milestone for the company. It combines iconic design, pioneering engineering, and readiness for the new world of electric driving and sportscar/SUV crossovers.
