GMC’s latest Hummer is here with just the right amount of chaos.

GMC’s Hummer EV pick-up’s SUV little brother has arrived and, it’s still big.

While the wheelbase is slightly shorter than that of the pick-up, it still rolls in at over 3m and nearly 4.5 tonnes.

Prices start from £65,000 and go up to £86,000 for the top-level Edition 1.

Its range is yet to be revealed but, as its lighter than the pick-up, it’s anticipated to rack up 250 miles before conking out of its 20 battery modules below the floor.

That smaller battery pack means it kicks out (only) 830hp rather than the 1,000 in the pick-up, but the lower body allows it to rip from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Every model comes with air springs that give 13 inches of adjustable travel and all but the base model get four-wheel steering – meaning that, at slow speeds, the SUV can turn in a tighter circle than a Chevrolet Bolt.

It also comes equipped with GMC’s Super Cruise – a hands-free driver assistance system that will make lane changes on its own.

The Hummer EV SUV is a surprising mix of speed, power, comfort and practicality.

What it lacks in personality, particularly inside where it’s still clearly designed with worker’s hands in mind, it makes up for in attitude that it has inevitably inherited from its big brother.
